From July 11th to 13th 2019, Golfclub Broekpolder organizes the second “Broekpolder International Open”, a tournament of the Pro Golf Tour. Players come from multiple countries, including Germany, Austria, France, Spain, England, Scotland, Morocco, Egypt and the Netherlands. In European golf, the Pro Golf Tour is ranked just behind the European Tour and the Challenge Tour and is an official qualifying tour. Many professional golfers start at the Pro Golf Tour, and the level is high because there is also a qualifying school where playing rights for the Pro Golf Tour can be earned. More information about the Pro Golf Tour can be found on https://www.progolftour.de/index-en.html.
This is the second time that Golfclub Broekpolder organized the Pro Golf Tour event in the Netherlands.
Four Broekpolder professionals will participate in the tournament:
Until 2012, The Pro Golf Tour was organized under the name EPD Tour. Joost Luiten started his professional career in 2007 at the EPD Tour, he won a tournament en was promoted via the Challenge Tour to the European Tour. Also Martin Kaymer started at the EPD Tour. The head office of the Pro Golf Tour is based in Munich, Germany, and is linked to the PGA Germany.
Young and talented professionals from Europa are competing in about 20 tournaments throughout Europe for € 30.000 prize money per tournament and the Order of Merit. The top 5 at the end of the season qualifies for the Challenge Tour in the following season. The winner of three tournaments during the season will be directly promoted to the Challenge Tour.
A good opportunity to see these talented young golf professionals at close range, from whom some may become famous one day and win tournaments at the highest level. There will be invitations from our organization to Dutch golf professionals with playing rights on the Pro Golf Tour. Also some Dutch top amateurs will be invited with wild cards.
